A Message to New and Returning Clients Concerning the Length of my Consultations and my Current Fees.

I have been giving readings as a professional astrologer for fifteen years now, and I have had many different experiences of the magic that an astrological consultation can bring. One of my struggles has been concerning the length of a session, and over the years I have experimented with many different options. In recent years my sessions seem to be getting longer and longer. My challenge is always how to do justice to the incredible richness that every chart contains, and how to give a sense for the full overview of both the natal chart and important transits, in a relatively short amount of time.

What I have learned is that it really is not possible to give a "complete" sense of the chart and transits in just one consultation. I have been giving longer sessions (as long as 2 hours and 15 minutes) with the intention of doing as thorough a job as possible, but it never really feels like enough time to fully honor both the full natal chart and all of the transits.

My problem in the last few years is that with these longer sessions (and larger fees) I'm aware that not everyone who wants to have a reading with me can afford to have one. And I've been reflecting on how to remedy this. I do have a sliding scale for a couple of clients each month, but I would like to open up the possibility for more people to get readings with me.

So, I've been thinking of offering two different types of readings for two different types of clients. The first type of reading is the kind that I have been offering for some time now, and this is geared towards the person who really wants to go as deeply as possible into their own chart and transits. This is someone who is looking to explore the full natal chart, and cover all of the important transits as thoroughly as time allows. My sense is that at minimum this would require the full two hour and 15 minute session, which is the longest initial session that I do. Realistically, more time will be needed to cover "everything," and the typical client that is in this category will generally schedule for two sessions within a short time period (perhaps two, two-hour sessions). In my experience, having more like four hours of time together (over two sessions) allows for a careful thorough dialogue about both the natal chart and transits.

But the magic of astrology certainly can happen in a shorter session. I have had the experience of talking with someone about their chart for just 15 or 20 minutes and something powerful happening for that person. I can still convey important information in a shorter time period, and there is still the possibility of receiving a deep communication from the chart within a more condensed amount of time.

And so the second type of reading is for someone who is maybe just looking for a "taste" of what this approach to astrology has to offer, or someone who maybe is just looking to trust that even though the reading won't be exhaustive, that there will still be an important communication that could come thorough. This might be someone who can't afford a longer session, but still wants to consult with the astrological gods to see what they can communicate in a shorter session. This type of client might have a shorter reading and then decide to return later for a more thorough consultation. This may also be a good option for a "gift reading" if you want to give someone a taste of what is possible with astrology, but maybe you can't afford a longer session for the person.

There are, of course, limitations to a shorter session. I won't be able to give as broad a range of examples of the different possibilities for a given archetype. There won't be as much time for dialogue. I will not be able to give a sense for all of the different alignments that are happening (either in the natal chart or the transits). A shorter session would be a more focused conversation that is likely only to address a few of the major energies that are relevant to what you are most interested in understanding about yourself or about the current time period. But there is still the potential for a deeply meaningful experience in a shorter session, and I want to allow for this.

I will still offer the longer sessions that were already described here on my website. Currently for an initial session I offer three longer sessions, and I discount the fee for the two longest options:

1 hour and 45 minute sessions: $210
2 hour sessions: $230
2 hour and 15 minute sessions: $250

Please keep in mind that it is always my preference to have more time to work with, but I do now want to offer the possibility for shorter sessions. I will now offer three more options for an initial consultation that will allow for more people on a tighter budget to get an initial reading. The shortest session I will offer is a 1 hour session, and my fees are as follows:

1 hour sessions: $120.
1 hour and 15 minute sessions: $150
1 hour and 30 minute sessions: $180

The fees for follow-up consultations are the same as those listed here for initial readings, with the shortest follow-up session being a 1 hour session for the same fee of $120. It is always my preference for follow-up sessions to be at least 90 minutes long to allow time for careful dialogue, but I will still offer the shorter options listed above.

Again, please remember that these shorter readings are a different type of experience, and it is possible that we will come to the end of the time, and we will not have gone as deeply as you might like. I will need to end promptly at the end of the scheduled time (unless you decide to extend the time, which is sometimes possible), but we can always schedule for a follow-up.
